Yes, she'd got him: her Lucifer, little light and little fire, outcast lover, forbidden fruit. And he'd thought that would be enough, back in the days when Freya loved him, when he had been sure that she loved him. Yet in the face of Heaven, who could stand?

Freya was the daughter of Love; she was light and life and sweetness, and, briefly, she was his. He was so very certain she would be his forever: never mind that he was an outcast from Heaven, hated by almost all his siblings, Freya loved him and that was enough.

(OMG, there is someone out there who loves Catherine Webb! *squee* I've been completely dispirited about how there is no fandom for CW, and I've been itching to fic her since I read Mirror Dreams. But to think there is someone who is wandering around Millways bar as Sam Linnifer, well, that makes me happy.)
